Vics afternoon “C” team in Centenary Cup Final

The Vics afternoon “C” team will play Royden Hall in the Centenary Cup Final on Friday September 5th at Pensby with a 1-30 pm start. Brian Buck and his team will be hoping to make it 3 wins in 4 seasons for the Vics in this competition with the “A” team winning in 2005 and the “B” team triumphant last year. It is hoped a large crowd of Vics supporters will attend this final to cheer the “Lads” on.

Afternoon “B” team top Division 3 with 4 games to go.

The Vics afternoon “B” team stand top of Division Three of the Birkenhead & Wirral afternoon section, with 4 games to go. With 34 points from 18 matches, Skipper Derek Thomas and his team will be hopeful of going up to Division Two next year as champions. Nearest rivals, Bromborough Pool are currently 3 points behind with a game in hand but crucially, lost away to Marine Park last week. The difference for the Vics “B” team this year is the improved away form with 4 away victories posted so far, the best in the Division. The Vics remaining fixtures are home and away double headers against Albany and Thingwall “B” teams and 4 wins would ensure the Title.

Vics finish in excellent 3rd place in Birkenhead & Wirral Division One

The Vics Birkenhead Evening league team finished in an excellent 3rd place in Division One recording a record points haul for the Vics, in this league, of 40. Captain, Ian Sherbrooke has to be congratulated for managing to lead his team to 3rd place with such a small squad of players to pick from. The Vics managed a fine tally of 16 wins from their 22 matches which included 7 crucial away victories.

West Kirby Victoria win Division One Title for record 8th consecutive year.

West Kirby Victoria have won the Wallasey C.G.B.A. Division One Title for a record 8th consecutive year thereby beating the old record of 7 consecutive wins by Marine Park set between 1965 and 1971. By beating Harrison Park away a week last Thursday, West Kirby Victoria cannot now be caught by any of their nearest challengers. Remarkably the Vics have not lost a League Game since May 6th 2004, when Manor Road “A” recorded an 8 shot home victory. The last time West Kirby Victoria lost a home game was on April 23rd 1997 losing by 30 shots to Premier “A”.  West Kirby Victoria have to be congratulated on a truly outstanding achievement under the Captaincy of Malcolm Johnson throughout the successful 8 years. The Vics will represent Wallasey in the British Parks Team Knockout Championship to be held in Wallasey on Sunday September 14th.

Dr.Dawson Victory Cup Final

The Dr. Dawson Victory Cup Final will finally be played on Saturday September 6th at Oxton Conservative Bowling Club. The match starts at 2-00pm with the handicap in favour of the Vics still 18. Both Clubs have been sent a letter from the Wirral C.G.B.A. regarding the foul and abusive language in evidence at the first match, with a warning this will not be accepted at the replay. Anyone using foul or abusive language will be asked to leave the premises whether they are players or spectators. I have strongly refuted any West Kirby Victoria involvement in this abhorrent behaviour at the first final but both clubs have been warned.

Dr. Dawson Victory Cup Final replay Saturday September 6th @ Oxton 2-00pm Start

Victory Cup Final replay date still undecided, Wirral C.G.B.A. to meet on Wednesday 27th August
