Three away winners enough to gain aggregate point for “B” team.
The afternoon “B” team travelled to Magazine for their first away League fixture yesterday and despite only three winners on the day, they did enough to secure the aggregate point. Both Ken Bidwell, 21-15 and John Brandon, 21-16 completed good victories to maintain their 100% winning start to the 2008 campaign and Brian Ibbotson, returning from “A” team duty last week, had a hard fought 21-18 win on the excellent Magazine green. Keith Etches (2-16 down at one stage) and Bill Purcell were the best of the Vics losing cards with 16-21 defeats but the combined efforts of the team as a whole saw them through to the extra point after only losing by 38 shots. Centenary Shield action next week sees the “B” team take on Capenhurst “B” at Pensby.
