“Bulldozer” does it again as Vics afternoon “C” team start season with 61 shot victory
“Bulldozer” Bernard was at it again yesterday as the Vics afternoon “C” team got the season off to great start with a 61 shot home victory against Tixall “B”. After winning 21-02 for the “B” team on Wednesday, Bernard Davies found the going just a little bit tougher yesterday in managing to win only 21-03. What a fantastic start to the season for him!!! Don Ibbotson recovered from his “B” team loss on Wednesday to record an excellent 21-06 victory closely followed by an equally impressive 21-07 victory for John Birch, making a tremendous debut for the Vics. Another newcomer to the Vics this term is Calvert Jones and he also made a fine start, posting a 21-11 winning scorecard. “C” team stalwart, Eddie Dodd, had a comfortable 21-13 win and Stan Ridgway produced a good 21-14 victory. Two more newcomers to the club this season, Harold Rutter and Ted Lawrence, had winning debuts 21-16 and 21-17 respectively and the fifth new starter in the team Ray Farrell also started with a victory even though this was the closest game of the day before Ray finally clinched it 21-20. With nine winners, Skipper Brian Buck was happy with his teams display and the prospects look good for the season with all five of Brian’s new players starting off with victories. Hopefully the side will carry yesterdays form into the away fixture next week.
