New Chairman for Wirral Association
25/11/2005 by admin.
The Wirral and District Crown Green Bowling Association elected a new Chairman at their Annual General Meeting, held at Cammell Lairds last night. With the retiring Chairman, Ted Sullivan, deciding to step down after 15 years, Ken Griffiths was unanimously elected as the new Chairman. Roy Cooke was elected as Vice Chairman to replace Ken Griffiths. Two new Individual Competition rulings were accepted at the meeting as follows.
1. “Any player who does not stay until the completion of a Finals Day Competition shall not receive their prize money, which will remain in Association funds.”
2. “Players will be scratched 15 minutes after the published starting time of all Evening Competition qualifying rounds.”

No Ladies at West Kirby
20/11/2005 by admin.
Following the Annual General Meeting held on Thursday 17th November, the Members have voted against accepting Lady Bowlers as Members of West Kirby Victoria. In a close vote, 18 for accepting and 21 against accepting, the Committee’s proposal was defeated. A new Chairman, Mr. Brian Buck was elected, after the retiring Chairman, Mr. Dave Bosworth decided to stand down and not seek re-election. David, however, accepted the position of Vice-Chairman. Derek Thomas has been elected as Afternoon “B” team Skipper with Brian Buck taking over as Skipper of the Afternoon “C” team. Our youngest member, Trevor Rodgers, has accepted the position of Birkenhead League Team Captain. Karl Sherbrooke will be his Vice Captain and hopefully we can recruit some new players into this team for next season. A special presentation was made to Eddie Dodd in recognition of his services to the club over the past seasons. Hopefully Eddie will recover full fitness in time for the new season. A decision as to whether we could run a second Wallasey League Team was held in abeyance at the request of Skipper Mally Johnson, who seems to think he can pull an extra 9 or 10 players out of the hat before the deadline of 30th November.
