“C2 team lose by 2 but gain aggregate point.

The afternoon “C” team put up a fine performance against Albany “C” away, to only lose by 2 shots but this was sufficient to easily claim the vital extra point. Chris Williams again showed his class in a fine 21-10 victory followed closely by Bill Powell coming in with a 21-12 win. Bill continues to prove his skill well into his eighties and still amazes everyone with his enthusiasm for the game. Alan Flaxon, in winning 21-14, left everyone wondering why he doesn’t want to play more league games. The Vics final winner of the afternoon, Tony Ryding a 21-16 victor this time, proved that he is a loss to the “A” and “B” teams this year, with his unavailability due to work commitments. Reg Armitage 16-21, Andy Fergus 18-21 and stand in skipper Bill Spraggett 20-21 all ensured that the Vics would take the aggregate point. Special mention must go to Club President Sid Dutton, well into his nineties, who came off extremely annoyed he could do no more than 14-21. Sid’s amazing competitive hunger is something to behold. A good day for the Vics despite the 2 shot loss.
