Handicap proves no hurdle to Vics in stunning all round display.

The Vics Wallasey League side once again defied the handicappers last night, in another stunning performance, against Magazines, in the Presidents Cup 2nd round. With 11 winning cards out of 12 the Vics quickly set about retrieving the huge 105 shot deficit given them by the handicapping committee. Dave Gilmore, Karl Sherbrooke and Robby Fitzpatrick cruised through their games, with all three winning 21-05. Trevor Rodgers, regaining some much needed confidence and Matty Gilmore, followed closely behind with easy 21-06 wins. A trio of 21-10 victories from Anthony Thompson, Robby Franklin and Billy Atkinson meant that the handicap had been wiped out and when Eddie Clayburn 21-12, Neil Sherbrooke 21-13 and Anthony O’Neill 21-15 completed their victories the Vics were through to the next round and it was left to skipper Mally Johnson to complete the clean sweep. Mally however, having already cleaned up on Soviet Song in the Falmouth at Newmarket earlier in the day, decided to show some compassion for Magazine, by going down 15-21 in his game. With another big victory under handicap, the Vics will be wondering what they will have to overcome in the next round having already given away 84 and 105 in this competition so far. Next up the crucial crunch league match with Queens Royal at West Kirby on Thursday night when surely all the players will be fired up for revenge after the Harold Jones defeat. Lets hope “Crusher” can set the tone with one of his crushing performances and the rest of team can follow suit.
