Vics lose by 50 shots at home to Higher Tranmere.
03/07/2005 by admin.
The Vics Birkenhead League side once again failed to halt the Higher Tranmere juggernaut last night, when they went down by 50 shots at home on a slow green at West Kirby, made even slower by late evening rain. With only 4 winners on the night, the Vics were never in the match with any chance of victory and Tranmere proved they are a class above everyone else in this division with some superb displays by their highly rated individuals. Billy Atkinson however wasn’t overawed by the reputation of his opponent, when giving a scintillating display in a 21-08 win. Billy is in superb form at the moment and this was just another notch on his trouser belt this year. Skipper Ian Sherbrooke once again proved his ability at this level with a fine 21-13 win and Neil Sherbrooke kept up his great form with a 21-17 victory. Performance of the night for the Vics however, came from Bob Jones in a 21-19 win over the Higher Tranmere skipper. Bob has continued to prove a valuable addition to the club with his willingness to play for whichever team he is selected for. Robby Franklin with 17 was the best of the rest for the Vics on a night when class told at the end of the night.
