Aggregate point vital in away defeat for “C” team.

The afternoon “C” team lost the rearranged game at Bromborough Pool “C” yesterday by 21 shots but this result was tempered by the fact that the Vics gained the extra point virtue of the home win last week. Bill Tottey, only playing one game today, had a magnificent 21-08 win and Ken Bidwell won again 21-15. This is 11 wins in 11 games for Ken and with an average of 2.10 Ken is well ahead at the top of the “C” team averages. C.K.Pau returned to winning form with a close fought 21-17 victory and Eddie Dodd made it 2 wins in 2 days by coming out on top 21-18. With all the other players once again getting into double figures it is not surprising that the valuable extra point was gained. This consistency of scoring by all the players is the main reason the Vics are favourites for the league title.

Good away victory for “C” team in quest for title.

The afternoon “C” team had a hard fought 16 shot away win at Lever Club “B” on Wednesday. With problems raising a side and 2 players doubling up with the “B” team this was a good victory for the “C” team. 6 away winners is good any day of the week and the Vics title hopes were given a timely boost by this performance. Ernie Peers gave a brilliant performance in winning 21-06 and with Ken Bidwell continuing his 100% season with a good 21-12 win the Vics were well on the way to an overall victory. Club President, Sid Dutton belied his years with a hard 21-16 win and no doubt would have doubled up as well if asked !!! How does he do it ??? Stan Evans, another youngster, in his eighties, won 21-17 and John Dodd had a closely fought 21-18 win. Eddie Dodd completed the wins for the Vics when he posted a 21-20 victory and with the other 4 players in double figures this was a real team effort by the “C” team and showed why they are doing so well this season.

Another narrow away defeat for “B” team.

Despite skipper Stan Ridgways problems in fielding a side for the away fixture at Bromborough Pool, the 10 selected players performed admirably losing only by 14 shots on the day. Although the Vics only had 4 winners, the whole team reached double figures and this consistency of performance kept the score within close range. Arthur Fagan, in a rare appearance for the club, was the best scorer on the day with an impressive 21-12 win. Skipper Stan Ridgway, no doubt riled up through the events of the previous few days, had a good 21-14 victory. Chris Williams continues to perform consistently well and won a close game 21-17. Bill Tottey was the final winner of the day with a hard fought 21-19 win, not his only appearance of the day however as he also turned out for the “C” team as well. C.K. Pau also doubled up on the day as the Vics had to field 3 teams in the same afternoon again. All in all a good day for the “B” team who will be confident going into the home game next week.

Big 53 shot home win for “A” team against Heswall.

The afternoon “A” team had a comfortable home win against Heswall RBL on Wednesday in a much improved display by the side. There were 7 winners on the day and against such a good side as Heswall this was indeed one of the Vics better days this season.Dick Peake continues to shine in the second half of the campaign and with a great 21-07 win set the team on the way. There were 3 players who won by the impressive score of 21-09, skipper Brian Ibbotson, Bernie Owen and George Morgan. What a relief to see George back on the green again after a difficult year with injuries and illness. George has obviously not lost any of his skills during his absence from the side. Ian Cameron had a good 21-10 victory and “supervet” Robby Franklin won again, 21-11. Eddie Clayburn continued his consistent run of form with a handy 21-14 win to complete the Vics winners on the day. A good display next week should see the extra point come the Vics way.
