“Rampant Robby” and “Explosive Eddie” star in 98 shot win for Vics.

Robby Franklin once again starred for the Vics Birkenhead league side last night, with another rampaging 21-05 victory. He was well backed up by an explosive performance by Eddie Clayburn who had an easy 21-06 win. The Vics triumphed by 98 shots over Harrison Park in another consistent home performance. Captain Ian Sherbrooke and Trevor Rodgers both had great 21-08 victories and there were a trio of 21-10 winners in Peter Dodd, Bernie Owen and Mike Skipworth. Mally Johnson with a comfortable 21-11 and Karl Sherbrooke ( only a slight crush tonight) 21-13 both won and the night was completed by the welcome return to the fold of George Morgan with a close 21-20 victory after looking down and out at 18-20. George produced a tremendous effort under an obvious handicap, with his bad knee causing a very pronounced limp as he walked from end to end. It is good to see George back playing for the club and we hope he can continue for a few years yet. With 10 winners the Vics once again proved that they are a formidable side at home. A few away victories are required to back up this home form hopefully starting on Friday at Harrison Park.
