Dont forget Monday’s rearranged game with Sacred Heart.

The rearranged game with Sacred Heart in the Wallasey League will go ahead on Monday 12th July at West Kirby. This is the game postponed because of the Euro 2004 quarter final.

Queens Park game postponed.

Tonights Wallasey League fixture at home to Queens Park has been postponed because the green is waterlogged. The rearranged date is Tuesday 27th July.

Best wishes to Lenny Sherbrooke.

We had the sad news yesterday of “C” team skipper and club stalwart Lenny Sherbrooke suffering a stroke at home and being taken into Arrowe Park Hospital. We wish him all the best for a complete recovery and hope that we will soon be seeing him at the green again. All our thoughts are with his family at the moment and it goes without saying that if help is needed we will be there for them.

Harry Preston and Eddie Dodd run riot in 85 shot victory for “B” team.

The afternoon “B” team hit top form this afternoon with an excellent 85 shot victory at home to Port Sunlight Village. Eddie Dodd and Harry Preston both reeling off 21-03 victories to set the Vics on the way. C.K.Pau 21-07 and skipper Stan Ridgway 21-10 also had easy wins with Bill Tottey, Bill Spraggett, Lawrie Blackburn and Derek Thomas completing a total of eight winners for the Vics in a return to the home form we expect of teams at the Lower Park. This result augurs well for the return leg next week when more than just the aggregate point is in reach.

Elwyn and Mally can’t prevent 59 shot loss for “A” team at Upton.

Despite close wins for Elwyn Williams 21-17 and Malcolm Johnson 21-20, the Vics afternoon “A” team suffered a heavy 59 shot defeat, away at Upton Victory Hall this afternoon. With only two winners the Vics are still finding it hard away from home this season in the 1st division. Ernie Peers, Brian Ibbotson and Billy Atkinson all had creditable 16-21 displays but more winners are required and a stiff task awaits the Vics in the return next week.

Vics finally reach Sansom Cup Final.

The Vics Birkenhead League side finally reached the final of the Sansom Cup tonight when the delayed semi final against Albany was completed. With a 2 shot deficit to pull up from the completed eight blocks of a fortnight ago, the Vics had 3 winners out of the last 4 to complete a 7 shot victory and qualify for a final against Gladstone on 24th July. With both Peter Dodd and Billy Atkinson winning 21-13 and skipper Ian Sherbrooke a 21-17 winner the Vics ran out deserved winners in the end.
