Trevor and Bernie fail to save Vics in 12 shot defeat against Higher Tranmere.

Despite Trevor Rodgers 21-09 and Bernie Owen 21-10 (against Dave Gilmore) the Vics went down to a narrow 12 shot deficit at home to champions Higher Tranmere tonight. Against a Tranmere side containing no fewer than 4 Vics members, Robby Franklin, Tony Vyskocil and Billy Atkinson all had convincing wins. With only 5 winners though the Vics did well to keep the score down to 12 shots. Trevor Rodgers fine form continues and he must come into consideration soon for the Wirral Parks side. The Vics need to pull together for the tough games to come against Heswall and Lever Club to maintain their position in the top half of the table. More playing members willing to play in the Birkenhead League is a must as Ian Sherbrooke is finding it hard to pick from just 14 players.

Ernie and C.K. push “C” team to 57 shot win against Birkenhead Park “B”

Ernie Peers 21-08 and C.K. Pau 21-09 led the way in another storming victory for Lenny Sherbrooke’s “C” team, against Birkenhead Park “B” at the Vics green this afternoon. Comfortable 21-12’s for Andy Fergus, Eddie Dodd and Stan Evans combined with other wins by Bill Powell, Bill Tottey and Eric Neal saw the Vics home by a clear 57 shot margin, to keep up the pressure at the top of the table.
