Buzz and Robby show class in tight away win against Gladstone.

The night after going top of the league, Mally Johnson’s Wallasey league side struggled to an 8 shot away victory at Gladstone. Anthony Thompson and Robby Franklin showing their class on the night with good 21-07 victories. The two Gilmores, Matty and Dave, and Karl Sherbrooke and Billy Atkinson all recorded good wins but everything rested on the last game of the night with the Vics holding only a 3 shot lead. Robby Hall however, continued his unbeaten start for the Vics with a good 21-16 victory to give the Vics an overall 8 shot victory. This match proving once again that when the pressure is on, the Vics top players handle it with great skill and nerve. Next up is the crunch President’s cup game against closest rivals Queens Royal with both teams off scratch.

“B” team suffer rare home defeat.

Stan Ridgway’s afternoon “B” team suffered a rare defeat at home on Wednesday against a strong Woodland side. With Derek Thomas 21-07 and Don Ibbotson, Bill Spraggett and Bill Tottey all winning, and with a couple of 20-21’s, a tight game was always in prospect but Woodlands proved tough opposition and prevailed by 8 shots at the end of the match. A tough return match next week for Stan and his team is anticipated!!!!
