Lennie’s Lads do it again

Len Sherbrookes “C” team did it again yesterday with an excellent away win at Greasby “B”. C.K.Pau led the way with an excellent 21-03 with Stan Evans 21-04 also starring. Eric Neal 21-07 was another single figure winner and with wins for John Dodd, Ernie Peers and Bill Spraggett, the Vics ran out comfortable winners by 38 shots to take them joint top of the table.

“B” team beat Gladstone

The afternoon “B” team had an excellent 54 shot win against a strong Gladstone side yesterday with Don Ibbotson (21-05) and Bill Powell (21-10) leading the way. Chris Williams, back from injury, defeated the much travelled Julian Fullerton(21-20)and Derek Thomas as stand in skipper won 21-16 to set up an interesting return game next Wednesday.

Afternoon “A” team go down to champions.

Despite a tremendous performance from captain Brian Ibbotson (21-11) the “A” team went down by 39 shots away to league champions Harrison Park “A”. George Morgan, Elwyn Williams and Mally Johnson all produced winning performances but with six losers, The Vics have a hard job to win the aggregate point next week.

Stormtrooper Sherbrooke sees Vics into 2nd semi final in two nights.

Karl Sherbrooke stormed past Ernie Gartland (21-07) last night, to continue his run of single figure victories and set The Vics up for a close win against Harrison Park and a semi final slot in the Sansom Cup. Robby Franklin, Trevor Rodgers and Bernie Owen all had comfortable wins And with (Fast) Eddie Clayburn securing his first Birkenhead Evening win and close victories for Mally Johnson and Captain Ian Sherbrooke, Billy Atkinson secured victory for the Vics with his win over Rick Keeley. After last years dissapointing cup performances by the Birkenhead Evening League side this was a welcome win for the team.
